Purpose of the report
The purpose of this report is to present our understanding on the application of the four functions of management in accomplishing the organization’s objectives and goals. This report analysed the functions of management using a framework called P-O-L-C, which stands for Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling. Planning, or determine business’s goals and the approaches of achieving them; Organizing, or identify the utmost allocation of resources and people; Leading, or motivating, coaching, and managing employee assigned to the activity; and Control, or monitoring the business’s progress to ensure accomplishment of tasks and identify areas for enhancement. This report details management principles, concepts, models and theories of POLC towards customer satisfaction, competitiveness, profitability and sustainability on Starbucks Coffeehouse in the United States. These functions are highly integrated that carried out in the daily realities of running an organization and are generally used in management and leaders in businesses for employee success.
